Can I be reasonably confident road tripping England in June without lodging reservations?

I don't want to make an itinerary for my trip - I want to travel spontaneously. But I need to find lodging each night for two at about 50 - 70 pounds (ideally closer to 50) - and I'm hoping this can be decent B&B type accomodations - doesn't have to be luxurious.

Can I make this a spontaneous trip, or is everything sure to be so booked that I really must make reservations for each night and stick to an itinerary?

Thanks.

Depending on the time of year you are thinking of travelling Britain, there are hundreds of little B&B's charging about £40 a night for 2. If you are on the motorways, there are nearly motels at every junction and their charges are different depending on what kind of accommodation you want. £50-£60 would certainly be okay. It is cheaper if you go off the beaten track and make sure you arrive at your designated area for that night by about 5pm then you will surely find somewhere to stay. A lot of public houses have accommodation, so you shouldn't need to take a tent with you!!
