I am from Pittsburgh but I am planning to send my portfolio to some agencies in NY. I am a student so I have financial restraints. Would the agency provide the money for traveling and lodging if we request it?
I am extremely worried about this....PLEASE HELP!!
Thank you guys for your answers!
But then, is there any way in which I can ask them to help me out? Because I am only a student.

Talent agencies would go bankrupt if they paid lodging for everyone who sends in their portfolio. Think about how many people that want to make it "big"...

The agency you send your portfolio to will advise whether you have to pay traveling and lodging. These are personal expenses so each agency may have a different policy on this.
Remember there are a lot of sharks out there out to con hopeful young people. If an agency starts asking you to pay for photo shoots or similar then that is a scam. Do not part with a penny.

Talent agencies will not provide you, a non-client, with travel or lodging money. Asking for it up front will mark you as a rank amateur (and probably get your material thrown in the wastebasket). If you are fortunate enough to sign with an agent, even then they do not provide you with funds. Agents represent hundreds, if not thousands of clients, and there's no way they can afford to pay expenses for everyone.
Every out of town actor who has to come to NYC for auditions and meetings has to foot their own bill. It's one of the aggravations of being a professional in this business. Even if you live in NYC, you can't get a good agent without a good head shot, so you'll have to pay for that up front. If you want further training to increase your chances of getting cast (taking voice lessons, for example), you have to pay for that up front. If you want to attend an open call in NYC, you have to pay your way there. If you want to look good at auditions, sometimes you will have to invest in some clothes, get a new hairstyle, buy makeup, etc. etc. These are all expenses you'll have to foot on your own, and that's before you even get your first job!
The only thing I can suggest is to investigate cheap ways of traveling to the city. I travel back and forth between DC and NYC all the time and the express bus services like Bolt Bus and Megabus have been lifesavers. I don't know if Pittsburgh has service to NYC on any of these lines, but you should do some research. If you have friends in NYC, ask if you can crash with them overnight (it's what a lot of us do when we have to come into town for auditions - hotels in NYC are ridiculous). If you don't have friends, educate yourself about the NYC hostels.
You don't say if you're a high school student or a college student. If you are a minor, bear in mind that a parent will have to act for you when it comes to signing with an agent, and if a parent is going to have to accompany you to NYC, that increases your travel expenses.
I wish you lots of good luck - you're going to need it.

If you don't have money to keep travelling to NY, then look for a local agency while you are a student and have financial constraints. If you don't have money to travel to see an agent, how are you going to pay to travel to NY every time an audition comes up? I would get as much experience as you can locally for now and not consider submitting to NY agents until you are ready to actually move to NY
