How does one lubricate a curtain rail while the curtains are still on and not damage the curtains?

The curtain's in my bedroom do not close very efficiently. When I try to draw them, they get jammed and it is hard to make them run across the rail.

It is just a standard, thin, plastic rail.

What can I do to lubricate the rail?

Spray "Furniture Polish" onto a cloth. Wipe the plastic rail with the cloth. DONT spray direct to the rail. The drips will stain your cutains.

try rubbing a wax candle in the rail.

You may need to take it down and in speck the rod.It being plastic it could be cracked, causing it to hange or jam.

Use a cotton ball or small cloth with petroleum jelly. Apply a smooth thin coat. Furniture polish, as someone else said might work just as well.

I would apply a thin smear of silicon grease. Plumbers use it (Lowe's, Home Depot). You can also get it from a scuba store as we use it to lubricate the o-rings on our equipment.
