Palace des Celestins, Lyon


The Place des Célestins situated in the Célestins quarter in Lyon.It is a square which was named after the religious of the Order of the Celestines  installed from 1407 to 1778. It is also classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.



It is a great place for relaxing in the dense fabric.The design of the square and the hiden garage under it are attractive and marits attention.



The hiding of urban parking lots is part of the Lyon’s policy of urban renewal.The hiding of parking areas helps the traffic to be reorganized in the historic centre of the city.Situated in the core of Presqu’ile peninsula, Place des Celestins is the entry square to the 18th century Celestins Theater.



In the hidden underground parking garage, the architect of this project designed staircases of the traditional housing typology in Lyon.The public space on the top and the garage under it are connected by an urban endoscope in the center of the square in fromt of the theater.
