I am traveling to China and Switzerland for an academic study abroad program.
I will be bringing a travel iron, cellphone, and my laptop. As well as maybe a hair dryer and straightener.
I know I need some type of special attachment(s) in order to attach onto the end of my U.S. appliances into the walls.
I believe this is called a converter or adapter, not sure what the difference is.
Any recommendations for good, sturdy and reliable converters/adapters?

Yes, you'll need 2 different kinds of converters. One for China and one for Switzerland. Also, you'll have to 2 kinds of the 2 kinds... one that can handle the voltage/wattage of your laptop, one that handle the cellphones, and honestly, I don't know if the iron will be compatible with one of those. You can get them at Best Buy for sure, that's where I got mine. And bring extras just in case they blow - because that happened to me in Europe - (I brought 2 thank god) I believe the brand is Jensen.
